The UTSA Department of Anthropology would like to congratulate Chris Jarrett, who successfully defended his dissertation--"The Social Life of Guayusa from Amazonian Ecuador: An Examination of Livelihoods, Landscapes, and Politics"--on April 26th of this year. In addition to watching him complete his stellar dissertation work, we were happy to learn that Chris has just accepted the position of Environmental Social Scientist at the Keller Science Action Center of the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. At the museum, Chris will work with a multidisciplinary team to create protected areas and protect local livelihoods in Western Amazonia, a mission for which his education in anthropology at UTSA prepared him perfectly. Congratulations, Chris! We couldn't be happier for you.
